The Open European Championship is the largest among the European Go Congress tournaments. Everybody who has registered to EGC can participate, players of all ages from all over the world are welcome.

Players eliminated from the European Championship can join this tournament. All games of the European Championship besides semi-finals and the final also count for the Open Championship.

 

Tournament system:

 

Rules: official EGF-ranked tournament class A, 10 rounds McMahon, Japanese rules, komi 6.5 points.

 

Top bar will be arranged according to number of players and rank distribution.

 

 

The time limits depend on the higher ranked player as follows:

* 1 dan and above — Fischer time 80 minutes plus 40 seconds increment per move

* 10 kyu to 1 kyu — Fischer time 60 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per move

* 11 kyu and below — Fischer time 40 minutes plus 20 seconds increment per move

 

DGT 2010 clocks will be used on first 150 boards. In case that DGT 1005 (“byoyomi clocks”) are used on lower boards, Japanese byoyomi will be used the time setting will be 60 minutes + 3×30 seconds.

Prizes:  Champion: € 1.000, then €700 / €500 / €300 / €200 / €100 for the top 6. Additional prizes for 10:0, 9:1, 8:2 and 7:3.

 

 

Prize-money only for players who played at least 8 rounds and attend the final prize-giving ceremony on Saturday, 6th August 2022.

 

Showing up 20 minutes after the defined start of the round loses the game.

 

A small prize-ceremony on Sunday evening (31st July) for the most successful players of the first week.
